A pre-race sample was taken from Emerald Lake.
Consumption was slow to begin.
Waikerie Bandit, Knight's Cross and Hold Fast Bella collided soon after the start. Ruby Dealer checked off Emerald Lake in the back straight. Emerald Lake and Forbes Debut collided approaching the first turn. Ruby Dealer checked off Knight's Cross on the first turn.
Waikerie Bandit underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to be displaying thumps and a slow recovery, and a left triangle injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
