The first split section for this event was manually timed.
Myola Pocket was quick to begin.
Zambora Jade, Ramadi Bale and Fritter collided soon after the start. Ramadi Bale and Fritter collided approaching the first turn, checking Fritter. Smiley Clancy crossed to the rail on the first turn; checking Veracruz Bale and Zambora Jade. Ramadi Bale and Myola Frost collided entering the home straight. Myola Pocket and Smiley Clancy collided entering the home straight.
Fritter underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right foreleg wrist injury. A five day stand down period was imposed.
A post-race sample was taken from Smiley Clancy – the winner of the event.
