Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was unable to be obtained from Bearish, a post-race sample was subsequently taken.
Bernadette was quick to begin. Dr. Carmel was slow to begin.
Bearish galloped on Star Night approaching the first turn. Bearish, Star Night and Dr. Collette collided approaching the first turn. Bearish contacted the running rail causing it to lose ground. Dr. Carmel crossed out entering the home straight and marred Sandy Gem. Sandy Gem and Dr. Carmel collided several times from the home straight to approaching the winning post. Star Night checked off Maxwell approaching the winning post.
Bearish underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.
Dr. Carmel underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left Achilles Tendon injury. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr. William McMahon, the trainer of Dr. Carmel regarding the greyhound's racing manners entering the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Dr. Carmel was charged with marring. Mr. McMahon pleaded guilty to the charge, Dr. Carmel was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Sale and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69(2) (a) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
