Steward's Report

Flying Frank – Late scratching at 13:45pm due to non–arrival (GAR 31).  A 28 day stand down period was imposed. Ms Melissa Fullerton informed Stewards that she had a vehicle breakdown on–route to the track.  Stewards advised Ms Fullerton that evidence of the breakdown will need to be submitted, to the satisfaction of Stewards, within 48 hours of the occurrence that caused the non–arrival.  The matter will be re–evaluated upon receipt of this evidence. 

Nicmac Miss and Holly Fever collided soon after the start checking both greyhounds. Whispers Blare and Perfect Lomar collided soon after the start checking Perfect Lomar. Miss Bazaar, Nicmac Miss and Holly Fever collided approaching the first turn checking all three greyhounds. Midda's Missile and Whispers Blare collided on the first turn checking Midda's Missile. Midda's Missile and Perfect Lomar collided approaching the home turn checking Midda's Missile. Whispers Blare checked off Jefferson County approaching the home turn. Midda's Missile visibly eased on the home turn. Miss Bazaar and Holly Fever collided on the home turn. Miss Bazaar raced wide on the home turn and again in the home straight.

Midda's Missile underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have no apparent injury. Mr Joe Borg declined the option to have the greyhound re-vetted. Stewards spoke to Mr Joe Borg, the trainer of Midda's Missile regarding the greyhound’s racing manners on the home turn.  Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Midda's Missile was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment.  Mr Borg pleaded guilty to the charge, Midda's Missile was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Bendigo and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69A (2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.

A post-race sample was taken from Perfect Lomar - the winner of the event.
