Essential persons (both staff & participants) attending today, provided satisfactory evidence of vaccination or exemption under the State Government’s mandatory vaccination (workers) directions, undertook successful health screenings, wore facemasks, observed social distance requirements, and adhered to room density quotients that in-turn, permitted entry to the venue for exclusive race-day functions and operations.

The closing time of kennelling was altered in accordance with GAR 31 due to operational requirements. The kennels closed at 10:05am.

Brave Lad and Hot Wash were slow to begin.

Jae's Wheels and Explodes To Burn collided soon after the start. Spanish Gold and Hold Fast Bella collided soon after the start. Brave Lad and Jezzali collided approaching the 200m mark. Jae's Wheels and Explodes To Burn collided from the 200m mark to the winning post. Spanish Gold and Hold Fast Bella collided approaching the 150m mark. Jezzali checked off Brave Lad at the 150m mark. Jae's Wheels visibly eased and turned its head outwards approaching the winning post causing Jae's Wheels and Explodes To Burn to be severely checked and race wide. 

Jae's Wheels underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following Race 2. Jae's Wheels was found to have an abrasion and contusion to the right hind foot, a 5 day stand down period was imposed.  Stewards spoke to the Kennel Representative Ms Paula Boots, regarding the greyhound's racing manners approaching the winning post.  Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B (1), Jae's Wheels was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury).  Ms. Boots pleaded guilty to the charge and Jae's Wheels must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69B (1) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.

A post-race sample was taken from Brave Lad - winner of the event. 

Blazin' Cool – Late scratching at 9.24am due to weight variation (GAR 39). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Trainer, Ms Paula Calafiore was fined $100.

Exford Norm and Orson Delight were slow to begin.

True Country and Emmett's Regret collided soon after the start. Exford Norm checked off Orson Delight at the 250m mark.  Exford Norm and True Country collided at the 200m mark.  True Country checked off Exford Norm at the 150m mark.  Orson Delight and Show Me Heaven collided several times at the 150m mark.  Orson Delight checked off Emmett's Regret at the 100m mark. 

Madame Duggie was slow to begin.

Scraping Paint and Jayville Tahlia collided soon after the start.  Ishmy Lady and How's It Alice collided at the 250m mark.  Scraping Paint and Jayville Tahlia collided at the 250m mark.  Jayville Tahlia and Too Much Talking collided several times from the 200m mark to the 150m mark checking both greyhounds.  Scraping Paint faltered at the 150m mark and tailed off.  Ishmy Lady checked off How's It Alice at the 100m mark.  Big Boy Paddy and How's It Alice collided several times from the 100m mark to the 50m mark.  Big Boy Paddy checked off How's It Alice approaching the winning post.

Scraping Paint underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left monkey muscle injury.  A 28 day stand down period was imposed.

Big Boy Paddy underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have left carpal sprain.  A 14 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr. Keith Lancaster regarding the greyhound's racing manners and took no further action.

Spin, Honey Double One and Stratospheric were slow to begin.

Honey Double One and Stratospheric collided soon after the start.  Aston Artemis and Zurual Bale collided soon after the start.  Spin, Honey Double One and Stratospheric collided at the 300m mark.  Still Got Time checked off My Prom Queen at the 300m mark.  Honey Double One and Stratospheric collided at the 100m mark.  Still Got Time checked off Aston Artemis at the 100m mark.  Wicked Missile race wide throughout the event.

Wish You Well – New declared weight of 28.4 kg, last raced at 26.9 kg.

Rev Up Axel and Ripper Reiko were slow to begin.

Bella Dreamtime checked off Ripper Reiko and collided with You Nugget approaching the 200m mark checking Bella Dreamtime and You Nugget.  Al's Draw Four and You Nugget collided approaching the 100m mark.  

Mumma's Bear and Nunniong Bear were slow to begin.

Nunniong Bear crossed to the outside soon after the start.  Golden Years, Mumma's Bear and Blair's Tulip collided approaching the 300m mark.  Golden Years checked off Blair's Tulip approaching the 250m mark and again at the 100m mark causing Golden Years to stumble.  

Golden Years underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have bruising to the left hind leg.  No stand down period was imposed.

Blair's Tulip underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have thumps to the left side and an abrasion to the left hind foot.  No stand down period was imposed.

Melanistic was slow to begin.

Warm Beer and Franki Jay collided soon after the start checking Eric Garfield.  Franki Jay and Rogue Temptation collided soon after the start.  Grumpy Al crossed in approaching the 300m mark checking Blackzin Prince, Melanistic and Franki Jay.  Franki Jay checked off Grumpy Al and Melanistic at the 250m mark.  Eric Garfield and Rogue Temptation collided several times from the 150m mark to approaching the 100m mark checking Rogue Temptation.  Eric Garfield and Blackzin Prince collided approaching the 50m mark.  

The Stewards discussed the frequency of racing of Maddingley Magic with Trainer Mr. John Mangion and noted their comments.

Ted Do was slow to begin.

Maddingley Magic underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.

Stewards spoke to Trainer Miss Cassendra Jayakoby and issued a warning to Shore Lanka regarding the greyhounds boxing manners pursuant to GAR 52.

Especial Echo was slow to begin.

Especial Echo and My Dad Baz collided several times soon after the start.  She's A Charm checked off Notorious at the 100m mark.  My Dad Baz and Jaimandy Jester collided approaching the winning post.

A post-race sample was taken from Half A Double - winner of the event. 

Jax Flash – Late scratching at 10.09am on the advice of the On–Track Veterinarian (GAR 37) due to a seroma to the right axilia.  A 14 day stand down period was imposed.

Trainer Mr. Stephen Spiteri was fined $50.00 for failing to ensure the registration card was produced for the greyhound, Raquea's Dream pursuant to GAR 33(4).

Out Of Aces and Ishmy Barry were slow to begin.

Stewards opened an inquiry into the conduct of Mr. Brent Merton, Trainer of Diamond Socks, after reports were made in regards to Mr. Merton's behaviour behind the boxes after this event. Stewards found Mr. Merton's behaviour to be detrimental to the image of greyhound racing and subsequently laid a charge under GAR 86(q).  Mr. Merton pleaded guilty to the charge. Stewards finalised this inquiry via telephone on 29 October 2021, imposing a penalty of suspension for two-months (with one-month wholly suspended for a period of twelve months), in addition to fines of $500.00 that were reactivated from a previous conduct related offence on 23 September 2021.
