Steward's Report
The start of this event was delayed by approximately 2 minutes due to operational issues.
Circus Dancer, System Issues and Mr. Neat collided soon after the start. Total Babe, Mr. Neat, System Issues and Mechanics Kismet collided approaching the first turn checking Mechanics Kismet, System Issues and Mr. Neat. Circus Dancer galloped on Zipping Margo on the first turn checking Circus Dancer, severely checking Zipping Margo which fell as a result. All For Now and Write About Her collided in the home straight. All For Now eased and turned its head outwards in the home straight. Write About Her and Total Babe raced wide in the home straight. System Issues raced very wide in the home straight and momentarily left the surface of the track.
Stewards initially delayed the 'All Clear' whilst the race footage was reviewed. Stewards were satisfied that in momentarily leaving the track whilst running wide in the home straight, System Issues had gained no distinct advantage and had no effect on the first four placings. Stewards subsequently declared 'All Clear' and no further action was taken.
Systems Issues underwent a post race veterinary examination and no apparent injury was reported
Zipping Margo underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to have an abrasion on a left hind toe. A 3 day stand down period was imposed.
All For Now underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to have an injured right hock and right triangle muscle. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr. J. Lindrea, Trainer of All For Now regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A (1), All For Now was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Lindrea pleaded guilty to the charge and All For Now was suspended for 3 months at all tracks and must perform a satisfactory trial in accordance with GAR 69A (2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Stewards opened an inquiry into the conduct of Mr. D. Prout, Kennel Representative and Owner of System Issues, after reports were received of particular comments made behind the boxes after the start of this event. Stewards found Mr. Prout's comments to be detrimental to the image of greyhound racing and subsequently laid a charge under GAR 86(q). Mr. Prout pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined the amount of $100.00.
