Steward's Report
Hendrik Bale and Aston Heidi were quick to begin.
Crackerjack Noah, Kenji Bale, Taltarni Black and Sassenach collided soon after the start, checking Crackerjack Noah. Kenji Bale, Taltarni Black and Barefoot Barry collided approaching the first turn, checking Taltarni Black. Hendrik Bale and Aston Heidi collided approaching the first turn. Hendrik Bale, Aston Heidi and Barefoot Barry collided on the first turn, checking Kenji Bale; causing Kenji Bale, Taltarni Black and Sassenach to collide. Crackerjack Noah faltered on the first turn and lost ground. Aston Heidi checked off Hendrik Bale approaching the home turn; causing Hendrik Bale and Barefoot Barry to collide; checking Hendrik Bale, Barefoot Barry, Kenji Bale and Sassenach; Kenji Bale and Sassenach raced wide as a result; Sassenach fell and contacted the outside fence. Hendrik Bale and Barefoot Barry collided in the home straight.
Crackerjack Noah underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have abdominal muscle injury. A 14 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr Clifford Smith, the representative of Crackerjack Noah regarding the injury to the greyhound. In accordance with GAR 75(1), the Stewards requested Mr Smith to report as soon as practicable anything that may have affected the running of Crackerjack Noah in the event, which was not noted by Stewards during or immediately after the event.
Sassenach underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have abrasions and spike wounds to all legs. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
A post-race sample was taken from Taltarni Black - the winner of the event.
Supplementary Report 22.9.21:
Trainer Mrs Patricia Smith reported to Stewards that upon examination the greyhound Crackerjack Noah presented no further injury but will continue to monitor and seek veterinary advice of required.
