Steward's Report
Aussie Bear was quick to begin.
Lord Maxie fell at the 300m mark, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right carpal sprain and abrasions to the right wrist and left metacarpal. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
Waste Land visibly eased at the 50m mark, underwent a post–race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Trainer, Mr Paul Ellul declined the option to have the greyhound re-vetted. Stewards spoke to Mr Ellul regarding Waste Land's racing manners at the 50m mark. Acting under the provisions of GAR 124, Waste Land was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Ellul pleaded guilty to the charge, Waste Land was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Healesville and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post–race sample was taken from Waste Land - the winner of the event.
