Steward's Report
New Lad – Late scratching at 8:10 am on the advice of the On–Track Veterinarian (GAR 37) due to a right hind back muscle injury. A 28 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer, Mr Jack Chapman after he presented New Lad to race with an injury. Mr Chapman was issued with a warning in accordance with GAR 23(1)(a) and advised him that he must conduct a thorough examination of his greyhounds prior to the appointed scratching time to ensure that he presents them free from injury.
Chill Out Dusty and Floppy Room were slow to begin. Melanistic was very slow to begin (3L).
Baz The Rocket, Floppy Roo and Chill Out Dusty collided soon after the start. Baz The Rocket and Princess America collided approaching the first turn. Chill Out Dusty and Floppy Roo collided approaching the first turn, checking Chill Out Dusty which contacted the rail as a result. Baz The Rocket, Princess America and Urana Duke collided on the first turn, checking Urana Duke. Floppy Roo and Princess America collided on the home turn. Melanistic and Princess America collided entering the home straight.
Chill Out Dusty underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to trainer, Mr Jason Caley as some noticeable betting fluctuations were noted by Stewards. The comments of Mr Caley were noted.
A post–race sample was taken from Lenny's Jagger – the winner of the event.
Meeting Comments:
Stewards issued a warning to Mr Lewis Green and reminded of his obligations under GAR 28(5) to ensure that he does not permit an unauthorised person to handle a greyhound on-course.
