Steward's Report
Deedee Mikado was very slow to begin (4 lengths). Chasing The Edge and Winter's Coming collided soon after the start checking Chasing The Edge. Mt. View Pearl and Mt. View Moon collided approaching the first turn. Mini Higgins and Son Of Beanbag collided on the first turn. Son Of Beanbag visibly eased on the first turn. Mt. View Pearl and Mt. View Moon collided approaching the home turn checking Chasing The Edge. Chasing The Edge and Mt. View Pearl collided approaching the home turn checking both greyhounds. Chasing The Edge and Mt. View Pearl collided several times in the home straight.
Son Of Beanbag underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was revetted following race 5 - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to trainer, Mr Kenneth McCann regarding the greyhound’s racing manners on the first turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Son Of Beanbag was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr McCann pleaded not guilty to the charge, Son Of Beanbag was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Cranbourne and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69A (2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
