Yellow And Black, Forty Free Beans, College Degree, Mepunga Gertie, Speedy Jack and Anndar Tiger collided soon after the start checking Anndar Tiger. Yellow And Black, Mepunga Gertie, College Degree and Aston Ryker collided approaching the first turn checking College Degree. Yellow And Black, Mepunga Gertie and Speedy Jack collided approaching the first turn checking Mepunga Gertie and Aston Ryker. Mepunga Gertie, Anndar Tiger and Dundas Houdini collided approaching the home turn. Forty Free Beans marred Speedy Jack entering the home straight and again in the home straight causing Speedy Jack to race wide. Yellow And Black and Aston Ryker collided in the home straight.
Forty Free Beans underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a spike wound to the right hind 4th and 5th toes. A 5 day stand down period was impoase.
Stewards spoke to Mr. William Hartigan, the trainer of Forty Free Beans regarding the greyhound’s racing manners entering the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Forty Free Beans was charged with marring. Mr. Hartigan pleaded guilty to the charge, Forty Free Beans was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Bendigo and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69(2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
