A pre-race sample was taken from Parumba Barcia.
Cee Jay Ace and Banjo Plato were slow to begin.
Banjo Plato crossed in soon after the start. Parumba Barcia and Hurricane Pete collided soon after the start checking Hurricane Pete. Fourth Dimention and Tui collided on the first turn checking Tui. Heidi Intention galloped on Hurricane Pete on the home turn checking both greyhounds and causing Big Plans to race wide. Cee Jay Ace, Hurricane Pete and Heidi Intention collided in the home straight severely checking Hurricane Pete and Heidi intention. Hurricane Pete, Heidi Intention and Big Plans raced wide in the home straight.
Hurricane Pete underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a spike wound to the right wrist. A 3 day stand down period was imposed.
