Steward's Report
All staff & participants attending the race meeting wore face masks at all times when inside the kennel block and associated buildings, and when engaged in the exclusive race day functions of handling, boxing, starting and catching greyhounds.
In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, this meeting was deemed 'Heat Affected'. At the commencement of kennelling, the outside temperature was 29.7 degrees and the kennel temperature was 18.0 degrees. The Stewards continually monitored the temperature at the venue as per the GRV Hot Weather Policy.
During kennelling Stewards conducted a carpark check on all trainers’ vehicles engaged in today’s meeting. Stewards were satisfied that all transport had adhered to the GRV Hot Weather Policy and the GRV Transportation of Greyhounds Policy.
Premier Slice was slow to begin. Proud Molly, Crackerjack Olly and Inga Bella collided approaching the first turn; checking Proud Molly, which collided with Premier Slice. Inga Riley and Crackerjack Olly collided on the first turn. Proud Molly and Miss Coby Moss collided approaching the home turn. Gypsy Warrior and Inga Bella raced wide in the home straight.
Proud Molly underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have right foreleg wrist and chest muscle injuries. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
