Steward's Report
Due to Government Social Distancing Laws under COVID-19 and acting in accordance with GAR 51 (10), the Stewards have directed that the boxing process in Victoria will revert to and continue under the 4-wave model being 1 & 5 boxed first, followed by 3 & 7, followed by 2 & 6, followed by 4 & 8. Handlers are required to exit the area after boxing and maintain their 1.5m distance from other handlers and staff at all times.
All persons (both Staff & Participants) attending today, undertook successful health screenings and wore face-masks that in-turn, permitted entry to the venue for exclusive race-day functions and operations.

Quinto Bale and Vintage Girl were quick to begin. Mystify Kick was slow to begin.
Raja Bale and Son Of Fabio collided soon after the start. Departure Gate and Showtime Boomer collided soon after the start. Security Man and Vintage Girl collided on the first turn checking Quinto Bale, Departure Gate and Showtime Boomer, causing Security Man to fall. Son Of Fabio, Quinto Bale and Mystify Kick collided approaching the second turn severely checking Quinto Bale and Mystify Kick, Son Of Fabio turned its head outwards and marred Mystify Kick. Departure Gate visibly eased entering the back straight. Showtime Boomer checked off Mystify Kick in the back straight. Showtime Boomer visibly eased approaching the home turn and again entering the home straight. Departure Gate crossed out approaching the home turn and marred Son Of Fabio. Showtime Boomer and Mystify Kick collided entering the home straight checking both greyhounds. Departure Gate and Son Of Fabio collided approaching the winning post.
Son Of Fabio underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have an internal oblique injury to the right hindleg. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr. Richard Hill, the trainer of Son Of Fabio regarding the greyhound’s racing manners approaching the second turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Son Of Fabio was charged with marring. Mr. Hill pleaded not guilty to the charge, Son Of Fabio was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Sandown and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69(2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted. Mr Hill stated that the greyhound Son Of Fabio will be retiree.
Departure Gate underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to Mrs Angela Langton, the representative of Departure Gate regarding its performance entering the back straight. Stewards deemed the performance unsatisfactory, acting in accordance with GAR 71, Departure Gate must perform a Satisfactory Trial pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted. Stewards noted the significant interference in the race causing the greyhound to lose sight of the lure.
Showtime Boomer underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 5, no apparent injury could be detected. Stewards spoke to Mr. Matthew Clarke, the trainer of Showtime Boomer regarding its performance approaching the home turn and entering the home straight. Stewards deemed the performance unsatisfactory, acting in accordance with GAR 71, Showtime Boomer must perform a Satisfactory Trial pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted. Stewards noted the significant interference in the race causing the greyhound to lose sight of the lure.
Security Man underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have an abrasion and laceration to the left hind leg. A 3 day stand down period was imposed.
Mystify Kick underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to Mr. Kevin Rickards regarding the racing manners of Mystify Kick. After hearing evidence from Mr Richards, viewing all the available race footage and acting on their observations, a warning was issued regarding the greyhound’s racing manners on the home turn.
