A pre-race sample was taken from Hot Streak.
Dutch Ambition was slow to begin.
Don't Get Lippy and Maximum Capers collided soon after the start. Classic Paws, Hot Streak and Dutch Ambition collided soon after the start. Barunga Bullet, Montanaro and Classic Paws collided at the 300m mark. Classic Paws faltered at the 250m mark and lost ground. Barunga Bullet and Montanaro collided approaching the winning post.
Classic Paws underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right back muscle injury. A 60 day stand down period was imposed.
