Super Harry was very slow to begin - 4 lengths.
Monument Valley contacted the running rail on the first turn and lost ground. Orange Justice and Villanelle collided on the first turn. Maddingley Park galloped on Orange Justice on the first turn checking Orange Justice causing Maddingley Park to fall as a result. Villanelle marred Queen Lisa on the first turn checking Villanelle, Queen Lisa and Orange Justice.
Monument Valley underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a laceration to the left hindleg. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
Villanelle underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to Mr S. Menegazzo, the representative of Villanelle regarding the greyhound's racing manners on the first turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Villanelle was charged with marring. Mr Menegazzo pleaded guilty to the charge, Villanelle is suspended for 28 days at Geelong and must perform a Satisfactory Trial pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
Maddingley Park underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a fractured right radius and fractured right ulna. Maddingley Park was humanely euthanised.
