All staff and participants attending the race meeting wore face masks at all times when inside the kennel block and associated buildings, and when engaged in the exclusive race day functions of boxing, starting, and catching greyhounds. 

Rival Wiggly was slow to begin.

Midoriyama and Sky And Thunder collided on the first turn causing Sky And Thunder to check off Bark Healy. Tai Pan Agogo, Sky And Thunder and Bark Healy collided on the second turn. Bark Healy checked off Tai Pan Agogo approaching the home turn.

Stewards spoke with Mr Darrell Leathan, the trainer of Rival Wiggly regarding the greyhounds performance. Mr Leathan stated the catcher reported to him that the greyhounds muzzle had been caught in its mouth and believed this to be a major contributing factor to its poor performance. Mr Leathan added that he planned on nominating the greyhound at his local provincial tracks for future events. Stewards noted Mr Leathan's explanation. Rival Wiggly underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injury was reported.

A post-race sample was taken from Rival Wiggly which was unplaced in this event.
