Steward's Report

Stewards spoke to trainer, Mr J Cooper regarding the scratching of Maximum Shim, which then afforded a vacant box either side of its kennel mate, Crackerjack Olly.  Mr Cooper explained that Maximum Shim was suffering from a left thigh injury.  Stewards accepted Mr Cooper's explanation.

A sample was taken from Crackerjack Olly upon arrival at the course.

Big Buck was quick to begin.  Giaan's Girl was slow to begin.

Big Buck and Myola Dawn collided soon after the start.  Big Buck and Myola Dawn collided approaching the home turn.  Coolum Beach raced wide on the home turn and collided with Big Buck and Myola Dawn; checking all three greyhounds resulting in Coolum Beach and Big Buck becoming unbalanced.

Coolum Beach underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left foreleg deltoid injury.  A seven day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to trainer, Mr R Mahony regarding the racing manners of Coolum Beach on the home turn.  After hearing evidence from Mr Mahony, viewing all the available race footage and acting on their observations, a warning was issued regarding the greyhound’s racing manners on the home turn.

Stewards spoke to Mr J Cooper, trainer of Crackerjack Olly, and advised him that the greyhound would be monitored in future starts regarding aggression in the catching pen.
