Steward's Report
Jye's Jet was slow to begin.
Venus Light and Blinken Lily collided repeatedly approaching the first turn and again on the first turn checking both greyhounds. Smoke Bush Drive checked off Jye's Jet on the first turn. Abernathy and Jye's Jet collided approaching the home turn. Venus Light and Smoke Bush Drive collided in the home straight. Fatboy Leeroy turned its head outwards and eased in the home straight colliding with Lyrical Lad.
Fatboy Leeroy underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left tarsal sprain. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer, Mr. Ian Cockerell regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B (1), Fatboy Leeroy was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Cockerell pleaded guilty to the charge, Fatboy Leeroy was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69B (1) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post-race sample was taken from Lyrical Lad - winner of the event.
