Steward's Report
All persons attending the venue today carried face masks, observed social distance requirements, and maintained room density quotients for the race meeting.
A pre-race sample was taken from Like A Skyrocket.
Old Man Trapper was slow to begin. Empress Blaze and Dr. Grady collided soon after the start. Little Boy Blue and Dr. Grady collided on the first turn. Dr. Grady and Meg Rose collided on the first turn and again approaching the home turn. Empress Blaze and Meg Rose collided on the home turn. Like A Skyrocket visibly eased and turned it's head outwards on the home turn and collided with Old Man Trapper. Dr. Grady visibly eased and turned it's head outwards in the home straight and collided with Like A Skyrocket.
Dr. Grady underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right hind toe collateral ligament rupture. A 21 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to representative Ms. J. McMahon regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B (1), Dr. Grady was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Ms. McMahon pleaded guilty to the charge, Dr. Grady was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69B (1) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Like A Skyrocket underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 5, no apparent injury could be detected.
Stewards spoke to Mr. G. Clifton, the trainer of Like A Skyrocket regarding the greyhound's racing manners on the home turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A (1) Like A Skyrocket was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Clifton pleaded guilty to the charge, Like A Skyrocket was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Sale and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69A (2)(a) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
