Omega Dodge, Zambora Smokey, Stirling Lights and Aston Frigate collided approaching the first turn checking Omega Dodge, Zambora Smokey and Stirling Lights. Dr. Knuckles crossed in on the first turn checking Aston Frigate and Dr. Headley. Aston Frigate, Zambora Smokey and Stirling Lights collided on the first turn checking Zambora Smokey and Stirling Lights. Zambora Smokey, Stirling Lights and Omega Dodge collided approaching the home turn checking Stirling Lights and Omega Dodge. Sweet Demi and Dr. Knuckles collided on the home turn severely checking Dr. Knuckles and Dr. Headley causing both greyhounds to fall. Zambora Smokey and Stirling Lights collided in the home straight checking Stirling Lights.
Dr. Headley underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.
Dr. Knuckles underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right hind triangle muscle injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Ms. Kate Gorman regarding the racing manners of Stirling Lights on the home turn. After hearing evidence from Ms. Gorman, viewing all the available race footage and acting on their observations, a warning was issued regarding the greyhound's racing manners on the home turn.
