Steward's Report
Langfield Bale and Mahogany Flame were slow to begin.
Langfield Bale and Fabriola Acai collided soon after the start. Langfield Bale, Blue Zenia, Jarick Bale, Who See Lucy, Brain Wave, Fabriola Acai and Mahogany Flame collided on the first turn, checking Langfield Bale, Fabriola Acai, Jarick Bale and Brain Wave, severely checking Mahogany Flame and causing Who See Lucy and Blue Zenia to fall. Fabriola Acai turned its head inwards in the home straight and collided with Brain Wave.
Blue Zenia underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have wrist injury, left foreleg. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Who See Lucy underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a Radius & Ulna fracture, right foreleg. Who See Lucy was humanely euthanased.
Fabriola Acai underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was revetted after Race 5 - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to Ms. D Knight, the trainer of Fabriola Acai regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Fabriola Acai was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Ms D Knight not guilty to the charge, Fabriola Acai was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Ballarat and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69A (2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post-race sample was taken from Blue Zenia - unplaced in the event.
