Symbol For You and Also Arandt were slow to begin.
Symbol For You crossed to the outside at the 300m mark. Amlin Frozen and Thunderbolt Jack collided approaching the 250m mark checking Thunderbolt Jack and Precisely. Kraken Thunder and Simmons collided approaching the 100m mark checking Simmons and causing Also Arandt to check off Kraken Thunder.
A post-race sample was taken from Thunderbolt Jack - the winner of the event.
Stewards spoke to Trainer, Mr C Kiernan, regarding his failure to have full control of Simmons at the starting boxes for this Event. Mr. Kiernan stated that he had recently had surgery on his hand which caused him to momentarily lose control of Simmons. Stewards issued a warning to Mr. Kiernan pursuant to GAR86(q) in that he failed to have full control of Simmons. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into consideration Mr. Kiernan's clean record of 50 years with the industry and the fact that he recently had surgery.
