Ikaruga Bale was slow to begin.

Mepunga Daniel underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have no apparent injury.
After constant rain, Stewards walked the track following the event and deemed the surface suitable for racing.
As required under GAR 75, Trainer Mr Jeff Britton advised Stewards on Friday 21 August that upon inspection, Mepunga Daniel had a significant right back muscle injury that will require a 60-day rehabilitation period.
