Broadway Benny was slow to begin.
Shy But Savage, Rich Con and Riccarton Rick collided soon after the start. Battle Symphony and Luna Chick collided soon after the start. Battle Symphony, Riccarton Rick and Shy But Savage collided approaching the first turn. Luna Chick and Shy But Savage collided on the first turn checking both greyhounds. Sharnee Rose and Freda Rocks collided approaching the second turn. Battle Symphony and Riccarton Rick collided approaching the second turn. Battle Symphony and Freda Rocks collided approaching the third turn checking Freda Rocks. Sharnee Rose, Rich Con and Riccarton Rick collided on the third turn checking Sharnee Rose and Rich Con. Luna Chick underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr S. Ralph regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the third turn and approaching the winning post. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Luna Chick was charged with marring. Mr Ralph pleaded guilty to the charge, Luna Chick is suspended for 28 days at Sandown and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
Sharnee Rose underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 5. Sharnee Rose was found to have a left hamstring injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to representative Mr P. Riley, regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(B)(1), Sharnee Rose was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Riley pleaded not guilty to the charge, Sharnee Rose was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
