Steward's Report
John John Dory and Nevada Phil were slow to begin.
Aston Shelly and Joffa's Princess collided soon after the start checking Joffa's Princess. Nevada Phil crossed in on the first turn checking Aston Shelly, Groundbreaking, Rayner and American Star. Aston Shelly and John John Dory collided from the first turn to approaching the home turn checking Aston Shelly, John John Dory and Rayner. Joffa's Princess shifted out on the home turn and collided with Aston Shelly and American Star, checking American Star and severely checking Aston Shelly; Joffa's Princess fell as a result. Groundbreaking checked off Kid James entering the home straight. Nevada Phil shifted in and marred Kid James in the home straight.
Joffa's Princess underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.
Nevada Phil underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right thight injury. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr Ian Garland, the trainer of Nevada Phil regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Nevada Phil was charged with marring. Mr Garland pleaded guilty to the charge, Nevada Phil is suspended for 28 days at Bendigo and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post-race sample was taken from Kid James - the winner of the event.
