Five Lights was quick to begin.
Mini Fernando, Blueflash Lenny, Chucka Khan and Doused In Mud collided approaching the first turn checking Blueflash Lenny and Doused In Mud. Blueflash Lenny and Doused In Mud collided on the first turn checking Doused In Mud. Five Lights and Chucka Khan collided entering the home straight checking both greyhounds. Chucka Khan turned its head outwards and visibily eased in the home straight checking Five Lights, severely checking Mini Fernando which fell as a result, checking Taking Off and severely checking Blueflash Lenny.
Mini Fernando underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have bruising to the inside right hind leg. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.
Chucka Khan underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right pectoral muscle injury, a 14 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr Tristan New, regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(B)(1), Chucka Khan was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr New pleaded guilty to the charge, Chucka Khan must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
