Santa crossed to the rails soon after the start checking Marlow Flight, Grumble's Tomato, Whirly Drill and Impressive Scull. Whirly Drill and Riverdale Ellie collided approaching the first turn checking Riverdale Ellie. Santa stumbled on the first turn and lost ground as a result. Riverdale Ellie galloped on the heels of Stinga Honey approaching the home turn, checking both greyhound. Impressive Scull and Whirly Drill collided approaching the home turn. Riverdale Ellie and Whirly Drill collided entering the home straight checking Whirly Drill who raced wide as a result.
Lord Kalidor was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right thigh, a 10 day stand down penalty was imposed.
