A pre-race sample was taken from Southern Edge.
Steve's Uggboot and Southern Edge were slow to begin and collided soon after the start. Black Beauty checked off Ninetymile Hawk soon after the start. Lucky Paws and Ninetymile Hawk collided several times from the 300m mark to the 200m mark. Southern Edge and Superstar Jessie collided at the 200m mark. Black Beauty faltered at the 200m mark and lost ground as a result. Love A Talk checked off Meehan Pebbles at the 150m mark. Southern Edge checked off Steve's Uggboot approaching the 50m mark. Southern Edge and Lucky Paws collided approaching the winning post.
Black Beauty underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have right central tarsal bone fracture. A 90 day stand down period was imposed.
