Steward's Report
RiverGum Road – Late scratching at 6:16pm due to the greyhound not being presented (non arrival)(GAR 31). A 28 day stand down period was imposed. Trainer Mr P Parrelli was fined $250. Stewards attempted to contact Mr. Parrelli on several occasion prior to the late scratching without any success. Subsequent to the scratching, Mr. Parrelli contacted Stewards and stated that he attempted to scratch the greyhound this morning via GRV however was unable to contact anyone successfully. Stewards will make a submission to the Chief Steward to review the penalty against RiverGum Road.
Gentleman Thief, Oriental Pins and Tin Shed Fred collided soon after the start checking Tin Shed Fred and Oriental Pins. Oriental Pins galloped on the heels of Tin Shed Fred approaching the first turn checking both greyhounds. Stride For Pride turned its head inwards and marred Zambora Smokey approaching the winning post.
Stride For Pride underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right wrist injury, right shin soreness and a spike wound to the right hind toe. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr J Mangion, the trainer of Stride For Pride regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the winning post. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Stride For Pride was charged with marring. Mr Mangion pleaded guilty to the charge, Stride For Pride is suspended for 28 days at Shepparton and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post-race sample was taken from Percy's Magic - the winner of the event.
