Light The Track and Jackson's River were slow to begin.
Quest Allen, Maina Honey and Macs Road collided soon after the start checking Macs Road, Maina Honey and Jackson's River. Rotarua and Lost Property collided on the first turn checking Lost Property. Light The Track and Macs Road collided approaching the third turn. Rotarua and Shima Deal collided approaching the third turn checking Shima Deal and severely checking Rotarua which stumbled as a result.
Rotarua underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have injuries to both wrists. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
Lost Property underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have abrasions to both metacarpals. No stand down period was imposed.
