A pre-race sample was taken from Ride High.
Crackerjack Dev, Chasing Rex, King Lorrimer, Ride High, Inter Santina and Spring Hummer collided soon after the start checking Crackerjack Dev, Chasing Rex, King Lorrimer, Ride High and Inter Santina. Crackerjack Dev, Chasing Rex and King Lorrimer collided approaching the first turn checking Chasing Rex and King Lorrimer. King Lorrimer and Inter Santina collided entering the back straight checking King Lorrimer. Inter Santina, Ride High and King Lorrimer collided on the third turn checking Ride High and King Lorrimer. Spring Hummer tired over the concluding stages.
Spring Hummer underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to kennel representative Mr S. Coulson regarding the performance of the greyhound over the concluding stages. Mr Coulson explained that the greyhound has not had a run over the distance recently and would derive benefit from the run.
