Steward's Report

Optimus Steel, Strada and Fran Bale were slow to begin.

Valletta Sky and Why Not Paps collided soon after the start.  Strada and Fran Bale collided soon after the start checking Fran Bale.  Renita Bale and Little Tubbsy collided soon after the start.  Why Not Paps, Renita Bale and Tezzalenko collided soon after the start checking Renita Bale.  Optimus Steel checked off Valletta Sky on the first turn.  Why Not Paps and Strada collided on the first turn causing Why Not Paps, Renita Bale and Little Tubbsy to collided.  Renita Bale checked off Little Tubbsy approaching the second turn.  Tezzalenko crossed to the inside approaching the third turn.  Optimus Steel and Fran Bale collided approaching the home turn.  

Optimus Steel underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 9. Optimus Steel was found to have a right hock injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mr. Peter Riley the representative of Optimus Steel regarding the greyhound's poor performance.  Mr. Riley stated that he thought the greyhound sustained an injury during the event and he also advised that the greyhound was coming back from a stopper bone injury.  Stewards noted Mr. Riley's explanation and directed that a sample be taken.

A post-race sample was taken from Optimus Steel - the winner of the event.
