A pre-race sample was taken from Double Tactic.
Gino Gambino and Run Baba Run were quick to begin. Ragnar Bale was slow to begin. Idria Bale and Double Tactic collided soon after the start. Triple Double and Idria Bale collided approaching the first turn. Triple Double, Fyodor Bale and Scatterbox collided on the first turn checking Fyodor Bale and Scatterbox. Fyodor Bale checked off Scatterbox on the second turn and collided with Double Tactic, checking Double Tactic. Triple Double checked off Run Baba Run on the second turn checking Idria Bale and Scatterbox. Ragnar Bale and Fyodor Bale collided in the back straight. Double Tactic checked off Scatterbox on the third turn. Gino Gambino and Triple Double collided in the home straight. Ragnar Bale and Fyodor Bale collided in the home straight. Gino Gambino tired in the home straight.
Gino Gambino was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a spike wound to the right hind foot, no stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr P Bartolo regarding the performance of the greyhound over the concluding stages. Mr Bartolo explained that the greyhound was not strong over this distance.
