Boreland acknowledged he had not checked the greyhound prior to straching time, however, pleaded not guilty to an offence under GAR 23 (1) (a) for failing to examine Carpark Affair prior to the close of scratchings to ensure it was free of illness or injury. A fine of $200 was issued with $100 suspended for 6 months.
