Nowhere Nathe – Late scratching at 5:52am when Mr J. Boreland reported the greyhound to have an illness (GAR 23). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted. 

Next Challenge and Rain Dance were slow to begin.

Rio Dixie and Little Danish collided soon after the start. Little Danish and Rain Dance collided at the 250m mark. Next Challenge and Rio Dixie collided several times from approaching the 200m mark to the 150m mark checking Next Challenge and severely checking Rio Dixie which stumbled. Next Challenge and Louranda collided at the 100m mark. Elite Paws and Rain Dance collided approaching the winning post. Next Challenge and Louranda collided approaching the winning post checking Next Challenge.

Stewards spoke to Mr Peter Reinders, the Handler of Sonic Lauryn and issued him with a warning after he failed to obey the starters directions when boxing his greyhound in this event, pursuant to GAR 51(10).

Stewards spoke to trainer Mr John Boreland, regarding the circumstances surrounding the late scratching of Nowhere Nathe in this event. Mr Boreland stated that he discovered the greyhound had severe diarrhoea early this morning and was subsequently withdrawn. Stewards accepted Mr Boreland's explanation and took no further action.
