A pre-race sample was taken from Masamune.
Busted was slow to begin. Ellias Bale, Phoenix Drive and Jay Bird collided soon after the start checking Ellias Bale. Ikaruga Bale and Phoenix Drive collided approaching the first turn. Masamune, Ikaruga Bale and Phoenix Drive collided on the first turn checking Ikaruga Bale and Phoenix Drive. Ellias Bale and Busted collided on the first turn severely checking both greyhounds. Montaro visibly eased and raced wide on the first turn severely checking Tiny Shiny. Ikaruga Bale was checked off Phoenix Drive approaching the home turn. Ikaruga Bale and Montaro collided on the home turn.
Ellias Bale underwent a post race veterinary examination and no apparent injury was reported.
Montaro underwent a post race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 5. Montaro was found to have an injured right pencil muscle and a torn nail on a left hind toe. A 7 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr. D. Meade regarding the greyhound's racing manners on the first turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(B)(1), Montaro was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Meade pleaded guilty to the charge, Montaro must perform a satisfactory trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
Busted underwent a post race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 5. Busted was found to have an injured left chest muscle. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
