Steward's Report
Orion Bale– Late scratching at8.59am when Mr. B. Grenfell reported the greyhound to havean illness (GAR 23). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted.
Nicko Dancer was vetted prior to the event and was cleared to race.
Seabrook Stack and Dicky's Girl collided soon after the start checking Dicky's Girl which tailed off. Too Far Bro, Nicko Dancer and Blushed collided on the first turn. Seabrook Stack brushed the running rail on the first turn. Too Far Bro, Nicko Dancer, Gemma Rapid and Bushman's Buddy collided on the first turn checking Nicko Dancer and Bushman's Buddy. Seabrook Stack and Nicko Dancer collided approaching the home turn. Bushman's Buddy and Gemma Rapid collided on the home turn and again entering the home straight. Nicko Dancer and Bushman's Buddy collided approaching the winning post.
Dicky's Girl underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injury was found. Mr. Merton declined to have the greyhound re-vetted.
Stewards spoke to Mr. B. Merton, the trainer of Dicky's Girl regarding the greyhounds racing manners soon after the start. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(A)(1) Dicky's Girl was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Merton pleaded guilty to the charge, Dicky's Girl is suspended for 28 days at Bendigo and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
