Zeal The Moment and Jaimandy Roy collided soon after the start checking Jaimandy Roy. Regal Missile and Zeal The Moment collided approaching the first turn. Regal Missile, Hatters Lane, Come On Aileen and Jumbo Zeal collided on the first turn checking Hatters Lane. Jaimandy Roy galloped on the heels of Zeal The Moment on the first turn. Come On Aileen and Jumbo Zeal collided approaching the home turn checking both greyhounds. Jaimandy Roy and Hatters Lane collided approaching the home turn severely checking Hatters Lane which lost ground. Jaimandy Roy and Come On Aileen collided on the home turn and entering the home straight. Jumbo Zeal marred Jaimandy Roy in the home straight.
Hatters Lane underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left monkey muscle injury and left back muscle injury. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
Jumbo Zeal underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a spike wound to the right hock and a right quadraceps injury. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr. C. Arthur, the representative of Jumbo Zeal regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Jumbo Zeal was charged with marring. Mr. Arthur pleaded guilty to the charge, Jumbo Zeal is suspended for 3 months at all tracks and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(b) before any future nomination will be accepted.
Representative Ms. K. Prowse of Hatters Lane shall report to the Stewards as soon as practicable anything that might have affected the running of the greyhound in this event which was not noted by the stewards during or immediately after the event pursuant to GAR75(1).
