Steward's Report

Henessey Venom, Layback Cruiser, Valhalla Girl, Take A Rose, Typhoon Tessie and Sparkle Motion collided approaching the first turn checking Henessey Venom, Layback Cruiser and Typhoon Tessie, severely checking Valhalla Girl, Take A Rose and Sparkle Motion causing all three greyhounds to fall.

Henessey Venom underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a laceration to the left elbow. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.

Valhalla Girl underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left scapula fracture. A 60 day stand down period was imposed.

Take A Rose underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injury was found.

Sparkle Motion underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a spike wound to the right leg. A 3 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Ms L.Hellmuth the handler of Sparkle Motion regarding leaving the track without the greyhound being vetted. Stewards phoned Ms Hellmuth who returned to the track to have the greyhound vetted. Stewards also questioned Ms Hellmuth regarding her conduct following the running of the race, when leaving the starting boxes.  After taking into account, Ms Hellmuth's clear record and remorse she was issued a warning pursuant to GAR 86(o).

Following this event Stewards walked the track in the area where the greyhounds fell and deemed the track satisfactory for racing.
