Steward's Report

Rock Me David  – Late scratching at 10.19am when trainer, Mr David Crawford reported the greyhound to have a hock injury (GAR 23). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted. 

Lightning Beach was slow to begin. 

Buddy Goes Bang and Jackson's River collided soon after the start. Hip Hippy Shake and Busy Bella collided soon after the start checking Busy Bella and Buddy Goes Bang; Busy Bella stumbled as a result. Jackson's River visibly eased on the first turn. Buddy Goes Bang checked off Hip Hippy Shake on the first turn. Jackson's River visibly eased on the third turn. Jackson's River checked off Hip Hippy Shake on the home turn. Lightning Beach and Crackerjack Dev collided in the home straight. 

Jackson's River underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was found. Trainer, Mr Eddie Lieshout declined the option to have the greyhound re-vetted. 

Stewards spoke to Mr Eddie Lieshout, the trainer of Jackson's River regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the first turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(A)(1) Jackson's River was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Lieshout pleaded guilty to the charge, Jackson's River is suspended for 28 days at Cranbourne and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
