Steward's Report
Ms. J. Gill was fined $50 for failing to ensure the registration card was produced for the greyhound Dr. Davinci pursuant to GAR 33.
A pre-race sample was taken from Maverick Maya.
Pedda Pal, Christopher Rose and Dr. Davinci were slow to begin. Maverick Maya and Stirling Lights collided soon after the start. Valak visibly eased and pulled up approaching the first turn. Pedda Pal was checked off Dr. Davinci on the first turn. Quick Paws and Gellar Bale collided approaching the home turn checking Gellar Bale. Gellar Bale and Dr. Davinci collided on the home turn checking both greyhounds.
Valak underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to have an injured left monkey muscle. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr. S. Curtain regarding the greyhound's racing manners approaching the first turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(B)(1) Valak was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Curtain pleaded guilty to the charge, Valak must perform a satisfactory trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
