Cracked Soda and Gabby Gabby were slow to begin.
Dewana Degoey and Son Of Fabio collided soon after the start. Dewana Degoey, Mustered Courage and My Boy Winlock collided soon after the start checking Mustered Courage. Son Of Fabio and Cracked Soda collided on the first turn checking Cracked Soda and Gabby Gabby. Dewana Degoey and My Boy Winlock collided approaching the second turn. Mustered Courage checked off My Boy Winlock on the second turn. Son Of Fabio and Cracked Soda collided on the second turn checking Cracked Soda. Gabby Gabby underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have injuries to the left monkey and left pencil muscles. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to the trainer of Gabby Gabby, Mr J Galea, regarding the performance of the greyhound in today's event. Mr Galea stated that he was testing Gabby Gabby to see if she was able to run a strong 500 metres, however after today's event, Mr Galea intends on retiring the greyhound to GAP. Stewards took into account Mr Galea's explanation, the injury sustained, and interference suffered on the first turn and took no further action.
