Steward's Report
GRV Stewards concluded an inquiry into an incident that occurred in the vicinity of the kennelling area during the Shepparton greyhound racing meeting on Monday 14 October 2019. Evidence was taken from GRV Cadet Steward Ms Meg Bayliss and Registered Trainer Ms Pia Triaca. After considering all the evidence, the Stewards issued a charge against Ms Triaca under GAR 86 (q). The particulars being that at the Shepparton Greyhound Racing Club on 14 October 2019, Ms Triaca, being a registered person with GRV, conducted herself in a manner which was detrimental and prejudicial to the interests and image of greyhound racing. This conduct included using inappropriate language within the kenneling area. Ms Triaca pleaded guilty to the charge. After considering submissions from Ms Triaca, Stewards issued a fine of $500, with $250 suspended for 12 months, pending no further conduct related issues in that time.
In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, this meeting was deemed 'Heat Affected'. At the commencement of kennelling, the outside temperature was 35.7 degrees and the kennel temperature was 17.2 degrees.
Nano Nano was quick to begin. Summer Lights, All Inn Turbo and All Inn Mia were slow to begin.
Lil Gus and Blissful Lomar collided soon after the start. Summer Lights galloped on Aston Soho on the first turn checking All Inn Turbo and severely checking Summer Lights, Aston Soho, Lil Gus, Blissful Lomar and Big Fred; Summer Lights stumbled as a result. Lil Gus and Blissful Lomar collided approaching the home turn checking both greyhounds.
Aston Soho underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.
Summer Lights underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a spike wound to the left hind toe. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.
Blissful Lomar underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a partial split webbing to the front right foot. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
