GRV Stewards concluded an inquiry into an incident that occurred in the vicinity of the kennelling area during the Shepparton greyhound racing meeting on Monday 14 October 2019.  Evidence was taken from GRV Cadet Steward Ms Meg Bayliss and Registered Trainer Ms Pia Triaca. After considering all the evidence, the Stewards issued a charge against Ms Triaca under GAR 86 (q). The particulars being that at the Shepparton Greyhound Racing Club on 14 October 2019, Ms Triaca, being a registered person with GRV, conducted herself in a manner which was detrimental and prejudicial to the interests and image of greyhound racing. This conduct included using inappropriate language within the kenneling area. Ms Triaca pleaded guilty to the charge. After considering submissions from Ms Triaca, Stewards issued a fine of $500, with $250 suspended for 12 months, pending no further conduct related issues in that time.

In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, this meeting was deemed 'Heat Affected'. At the commencement of kennelling, the outside temperature was 35.7 degrees and the kennel temperature was 17.2 degrees. 

Nano Nano was quick to begin. Summer Lights, All Inn Turbo and All Inn Mia were slow to begin.

Lil Gus and Blissful Lomar collided soon after the start. Summer Lights galloped on Aston Soho on the first turn checking All Inn Turbo and severely checking Summer Lights, Aston Soho, Lil Gus, Blissful Lomar and Big Fred; Summer Lights stumbled as a result. Lil Gus and Blissful Lomar collided approaching the home turn checking both greyhounds.

Aston Soho underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. 

Summer Lights underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a spike wound to the left hind toe. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.

Blissful Lomar underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a partial split webbing to the front right foot. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.

Jaguar Jessie – Late scratching at 3:34pm after Representative Mr David Knocker informed Stewards of a traffic incident and road closures en route to track. Stewards accepted Mr Knocker's explanation and no penalties were applied.

Banga was slow to begin. Whispy Bale was very slow to begin (3 lengths).

Banga checked off Cavatate soon after the start. Zekel Bale and Cavatate collided on the first turn checking Cavatate and subsequently checking Hurricane Armo and Whispy Bale. Zekel Bale and Red Rochelle collided approaching the second turn. Banga and Whispy Bale collided approaching the second turn checking Banga. Zekel Bale checked off Red Rochelle on the second turn. Hurricane Armo checked off Whispy Bale on the third turn. Cavatate and Hurricane Armo collided approaching the home turn. 

A post-race sample was taken from Red Rochelle - the winner of the event. 

Soda Ceasar, All Inn Barty and Rezzie's Shout were slow to begin. 

Start The Clock, Chocolate Rocket and Rezzie's Shout collided aoon after the start checking Rezzie's Shout. All Inn Barty hit the running rail approaching the first turn and fell, severely checking Start The Clock which lost considerable ground as a result. Tough Dude and Aston Fume collided on the first turn, both greyhounds were severely checked and stumbled. Euchre John raced wide entering the home staright. Aston Fume raced wide in the home straight. 

Start The Clock underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. 

Tough Dude underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. 

All Inn Barty underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a complete laceration of the left bicep femoris muscle and small laceration to the right hind limb. All Inn Barty was humanely euthanased.

Nordegren was quick to begin. Daytona Icon was slow to begin. 

Cullquin Daario checked off Ragnar Bale on the first turn and collided with Spectral Blade. Daytona Icon checked off Cullquin Daario on the second turn. 

Ragnar Bale underwent a post-race veterinary examination upon request of the handler and was found to have a left shoulder muscle injury. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.

Shadow Mist was slow to begin.

Aston Ando, Speckie McKean and Nangar Rippa collided soon after the start checking Nangar Rippa. Zipping Leroy and Grudge collided approaching the first turn checking Grudge. Aston Ando and Shadow Mist collided on the first turn checking Shadow Mist. So They Say marred Lance Link on the first turn severely checking both greyhounds. Shadow Mist checked off Aston Ando on the home turn. Lance Link and Grudge collided entering the home straight checking Lance Link. Nangar Rippa marred Zipping Leroy in the home straight. 

Nangar Rippa underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-vetted following event 7 as requested by the handler. Nangar Rippa was found to have a left shoulder injury. A 14 day stand down period was imposed. 

Stewards spoke to Mr Robert Douglas, the handler of Nangar Rippa regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight.  Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Nangar Rippa was charged with marring. Mr Douglas pleaded not guilty to the charge, Nangar Rippa was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Shepparton and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.

So They Say underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-vetted following event 7 as requested by the Trainer. So They Say was found to have a right shoulder injury. A 7 day stand down period was imposed. 

Stewards spoke to Mr Christopher Tilley, the Trainer of So They Say regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the first turn.  Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) So They Say was charged with marring. Mr Tilley pleaded guilty to the charge, So They Say is suspended for 28 days at Shepparton and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.

A post race sample was taken from Zipping Leroy - the winner of the event. 

Fancy Fabio was very slow to begin (3 lengths).

Akashi Boy and Mogo Jet collided on the home turn. Zipping Norton and Aston Bintang collided in the home straight. 

Fire Legend and Captive Prince were quick to begin. Gehrig was slow to begin.

Lucas The Great and Khlo Money collided on the home turn and again entering the home straight. Khlo Money and Micky Rads collided in the home straight. 

A post-race sample was taken from Fire Legend - the winner of the event. 

Stewards issued a warning to Mr William Donlon for failing to have proper control of the greyhound Micky Rads following the running of the event, in the car park area. Pursuant to GAR 27(1).

Special Drop was quick to begin. Erolo Bale was slow to begin.

You Blue checked off Bump's Nugget approaching the first turn. Tat James, Bump's Nugget and Sizzlin' Sanchez collided on the first turn checking Bump's Nugget and Sizzlin' Sanchez. Erolo Bale and Cheeky Chimp collided on the first turn. Cheeky Chimp and You Blue collided approaching the home turn. 

Smokey Renn – New declared weight of 36.2kg, last raced at 35.1kg.

Rynell Bale and Zipping Aspen were quick to begin. Kraken Smartie and Slingshot Reaper collided approaching the first turn checking Slingshot Reaper. Kraken Smartie galloped on Zipping Aspen on the first turn severely checking Kraken Smartie, Heeza Nippa, Rynell Bale and Smokey Renn.

No Room – Late scratching at 2:20pm when Gary Edwards reported the greyhound to have a shoulder injury (GAR 23). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted. 

Lightning Blue - Late scratching at 4:07pm due to Trainer Mr Gordon Yates unable to transport the greyhound in accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. 

Mist was slow to begin. Select Pattern and Brolga Lass collided on the first turn. Bags On Shazza contacted the running rail on the first turn and lost ground. Brolga Lass checked off Mist on the home turn. 

Bags On Shazza underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left shoulder injury. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.

Kraken Pat was quick to begin. Extra Speed was slow to begin. Zipping Stan, Extra Speed, Chiseller, Bumble Bee Bolto and I'm All Alone collided on the first turn checking Extra Speed. Kraken Pat checked off Circus Oasis approaching the home turn. Zipping Stan galloped on Bumble Bee Bolto approaching the home turn checking Zipping Stan, Bumble Bee Bolto and I'm All One. 

Swift Ellie – Late scratching at 3:24pm after Trainer Mr Matthew Clark informed Stewards of a traffic incident and road closures en route to track. Stewards accepted Mr Clark's explanation and no penalties were applied.

Kraken Jacki was quick to begin. Yuken Talk was slow to begin. 

Yuken Talk and Impatient Miss collided approaching the home turn. Forgotten Girl raced wide on the home turn. Yuken Talk and Impatient Miss collided entering the home straight and again in the home straight checking Impatient Miss. Yuken Take raced wide in the home straight.

Satisfactory Trials at Shepparton on 23 October 2019

Emilio's Jet – Field of 4, Distance 390m, Weight 30.6kgs, Box 3, Placed fourth, Time Run 22:54 Cleared, Comment: Cleared All Tracks. Emilio's Jet was severely checked soon after the start and lost ground.

Crackerjack Des – Field of 4, Distance 390m, Weight 30.6kgs, Box 8, Placed first, Time Run 22:54 Cleared, Comment: Cleared All Tracks and cleared to race in a right sided blinker.
