Steward's Report
Mepunga Mila – Late scratching at 9:31am when Mr J. Britton reported the greyhound to have a triangle injury (GAR 23). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted.
A pre-race sample was taken from Lot Coin Babe.
Special Drop was very slow to begin (2 lengths). Summer Lights was slow to begin.
Audacious Grace and Dyna Xervo collided soon after the start. Summer Lights and Audacious Grace collided approaching the first turn checking Special Drop. Summer Lights, Special Drop, Lot Coin Babe and Dyna Xervo collided on the first turn severely checking Lot Coin Babe which stumbled as a result. Audacious Grace checked off Dyna Xervo on the second turn. Audacious Grace checked off Summer Lights entering the back straight. Summer Lights checked off Dyna Xervo entering the home straight.
Lot Coin Babe underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.

MEETING COMMENTS:
Stewards today concluded an Inquiry which commenced at the Melbourne Greyhound Racing Association (The Meadows) meeting on Saturday, 16 May, 2020 into the circumstances surrounding Mr Brendan Dewan, (the trainer of “Dewana Milkshake”) inadvertently leaving the course with the incorrect greyhound “Magic Will”. After hearing further evidence tonight from Mr. Brendan Dewan, Stewards charged Mr. Dewan with a breach of GAR86(o) in that he negligently collected the incorrect greyhound "Magic Will" from its allotted kennel at the MGRA (The Meadows) meeting on 16 May, 2020 transporting the greyhound back to his residence.
Mr Brendan Dewan pleaded guilty to the charge. Stewards found Mr Dewan guilty as charged and fined him the sum of $300. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into consideration Mr. Dewan's plea of guilty and remorse, his longevity as a registered Trainer in the industry and the fact that he was unaware of the situation until he was contacted by GRV Stewards.
