A pre-race sample was taken from Devil's Corner.
Weblec Spice was quick to begin. Delancy Bale, Manila Knight and Devil's Corner were slow to begin and collided soon after the start.
King Gristle and Burst The Seam collided soon after the start. Delancy Bale and Devil's Corner collided approaching the first turn. Winlock Thor, King Gristle and Burst The Seam collided on the first turn. Delancy Bale and Devil's Corner collided on the first turn and again approaching the second turn. Manila Knight checked off Burst The Seam approaching the second turn. Delancy Bale and Burst The Seam collided on the home turn and again approaching the winning post.
Stewards spoke to the kennel representative of Delancy Bale, Mrs Kennedy-Harris, in this event regarding the number of starts the greyhound has had over recent days. Mrs Kennedy-Harris stated that they do not trial or free gallop between races, and were adhering to the Greyhound Australasia Rules in regard to recent racing. Stewards took no further action.
