Due to Government Social Distancing Laws under COVID-19 and acting in accordance with GAR 51 (10), the Stewards have directed that the boxing process in Victoria will revert to and continue under the 4-wave model being 1 & 5 boxed first, followed by 3 & 7, followed by 2 & 6, followed by 4 & 8.  Handlers are required to exit the area after boxing and maintain their 1.5m distance from other handlers and staff at all times.

All persons (both Staff & Participants) attending today, undertook successful health screenings that in-turn, permitted entry to the venue for exclusive race-day functions and operations.

Quan Bale was quick to begin.  Collinda Beast was slow to begin.

Sixties Rocker and Charlie Bale collided soon after the start.  Mepunga Felix and Graceful Light collided approaching the first turn.  Quan Bale, Charlie Bale and Twin Pick collided on the first turn.  Mepunga Felix, Sixties Rocker, Mepunga Missile and Collinda Beast collided on the first turn checking Mepunga Missile, severely checking Sixties Rocker and Graceful Light; Graceful Light subsequently pulled up.

Graceful Light underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have injuries to the right pectoral muscle and the left hind paw. A 21 day stand down period was imposed.

Weblec Spice was quick to begin.  Delancy Bale, Manila Knight and Devil's Corner were slow to begin and collided soon after the start. 

King Gristle and Burst The Seam collided soon after the start.  Delancy Bale and Devil's Corner collided approaching the first turn.  Winlock Thor, King Gristle and Burst The Seam collided on the first turn.  Delancy Bale and Devil's Corner collided on the first turn and again approaching the second turn.  Manila Knight checked off Burst The Seam approaching the second turn.  Delancy Bale and Burst The Seam collided on the home turn and again approaching the winning post.  

Stewards spoke to the kennel representative of Delancy Bale, Mrs Kennedy-Harris, in this event regarding the number of starts the greyhound has had over recent days. Mrs Kennedy-Harris stated that they do not trial or free gallop between races, and were adhering to the Greyhound Australasia Rules in regard to recent racing. Stewards took no further action.

Drumroll Please was slow to begin.

Scatterbox, Mega Dossa and Drumroll Please collided soon after the start.  Run Like Jess checked off Run Baba Run approaching the first turn.  Run Baba Run and Shanlyn Rose collided on the first turn.  Run Like Jess checked off Scatterbox approaching the second turn and again on the third turn.  Run Like Jess and Scatterbox collided on the home turn causing Scatterbox to race wide.

This event started approximately 2 minutes late due to operational requirements in the kennelling area.

Dewana Classic and Keeper Of Keys were slow to begin.

Rockstar Melody and Wild Flyer collided soon after the start.  Wild Flyer and Route Sixty Six collided on the first turn.  Keeper Of Keys checked off Rockstar Melody entering the front straight.  Wild Flyer checked off Aston Cade on the third turn.   

Keenando was quick to begin.  Fire Legend and Lucy's Milo were slow to begin.

Medina and Mrs. Sharp collided soon after the start.  Lucy's Milo checked off Medina approaching the first turn.  Lucy's Milo checked off Fire Legend on the first turn.  Hot Finish and Fire Legend collided on the second turn.  Fire Legend, Hot Finish and Lucy's Milo collided on the third turn.  Zipping Zarbo checked off Medina approaching the home turn.

Weblec Jack and Rock And Roll were slow to begin.

Blinken Billy checked off Midnight Mystery soon after the start.  Road To Success checked off Father Phevos approaching the first turn checking Weblec Jack and Rock And Roll.  Midnight Mystery checked off Father Phevos on the first turn.  Midnight Mystery and Weblec Jack collided on the second turn.

Zipping Wade was slow to begin.

Spearhead and Indulge collided approaching the first turn checking Indulge.  Zipping Wade checked off Franki Jay entering the front straight.  Zipping Wade and Franki Jay collided on the second turn.  Earn The Frank, Franki Jay and Zipping Wade collided on the third turn checking Earn The Frank and Franki Jay.  Earn The Frank raced wide on the home turn and collided with Zipping Wade.  Earn The Frank turned its head and marred Zipping Wade in the home straight.  

Earn The Frank underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right hamstring injury. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.  Stewards spoke to Mr Peter Riley, the representative of Earn The Frank regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight.  Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Earn The Frank was charged with marring. Mr Riley pleaded guilty to the charge, Earn The Frank is suspended for 28 days at the Meadows and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Aston Stealth and Definite Signs were slow to begin and collided soon after the start.

Ledgerwood Libby and My Dewana Penny collided soon after the start.  Aston Stealth and Definite Signs collided approaching the first turn.  Muzza Keeping, Bridwood Marshal, Dyna Uni, My Dewana Penny, Aston Stealth, Definite Signs and Ellias Bale collided on the first turn severely checking Muzza Keeping, My Dewana Penny, Definite Signs, Aston Stealth and Dyna Uni; Aston Stealth and Bridwood Marshal stumbled and Bridwood Marshal pulled up as a result.

Bridwood Marshal underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have right scapula injury. A 28 day stand down period was imposed.

Dyna Uni underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have spike wounds to the left hind leg.  No stand down period was imposed.

Big Dove, Razor Burn and Chill Out Webby were slow to begin.

Bound For Blue and Magic Bulldozer collided soon after the start.  Fairytale Wish crossed to the rail soon after the start and collided with Mepunga Frankie.  Bound For Blue, Mepunga Frankie and Pirates Patch collided on the first turn.  Magic Bulldozer and Bound For Blue collided entering the back straight checking Bound For Blue and Pirates Patch.  Fairytale Wish checked off Razor Burn on the third turn.  Razor Burn and Chill Out Webby collided entering the home straight.  Big Dove and Pirates Patch collided in the home straight.  Magic Bulldozer and Fairytale Wish collided approaching the winning post.  

Mepunga Mila – Late scratching at 9:31am when Mr J. Britton reported the greyhound to have a triangle injury (GAR 23). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted. 

A pre-race sample was taken from Lot Coin Babe.

Special Drop was very slow to begin (2 lengths).  Summer Lights was slow to begin.

Audacious Grace and Dyna Xervo collided soon after the start.  Summer Lights and Audacious Grace collided approaching the first turn checking Special Drop.  Summer Lights, Special Drop, Lot Coin Babe and Dyna Xervo collided on the first turn severely checking Lot Coin Babe which stumbled as a result.  Audacious Grace checked off Dyna Xervo on the second turn.  Audacious Grace checked off Summer Lights entering the back straight.  Summer Lights checked off Dyna Xervo entering the home straight.

Lot Coin Babe underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.

MEETING COMMENTS:

Stewards today concluded an Inquiry which commenced at the Melbourne Greyhound Racing Association (The Meadows) meeting on Saturday, 16 May, 2020 into the circumstances surrounding Mr Brendan Dewan, (the trainer of “Dewana Milkshake”) inadvertently leaving the course with the incorrect greyhound “Magic Will”.  After hearing further evidence tonight from Mr. Brendan Dewan, Stewards charged Mr. Dewan with a breach of GAR86(o) in that he negligently collected the incorrect greyhound "Magic Will" from its allotted kennel at the MGRA (The Meadows) meeting on 16 May, 2020 transporting the greyhound back to his residence.

Mr Brendan Dewan pleaded guilty to the charge. Stewards found Mr Dewan guilty as charged and fined him the sum of $300.  In assessing penalty, Stewards took into consideration Mr. Dewan's plea of guilty and remorse, his longevity as a registered Trainer in the industry and the fact that he was unaware of the situation until he was contacted by GRV Stewards.
