Oscar The Scout, Aston Athena, Brilliant Jet and Midnight Hawk were slow to begin.
Aston Athena checked off Who Is Arandt soon after the start. Tah Pam and Aston Lindop collided approaching the first turn checking Aston Lindop and Oscar The Scout. Oscar The Scout, Aston Athena and Brilliant Jet collided on the first turn checking Aston Athena and Brilliant Jet. Who Is Arandt and Midnight Hawk collided on the first turn checking Midnight Hawk. Oscar The Scout and Who Is Arandt collided on the second turn. Midnight Hawk faltered and lost ground in the back straight. Oscar The Scout checked off Who Is Arandt in the back straight.
Midnight Hawk underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have an injury to the right triangle muscle. A 28 day stand down period was imposed.
