Steward's Report
Rockstar Gareth - Late scratching at 6:03 on the advice of the On-Track Veterinarian (GAR 37) due to a right hind toe injury. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
King Gristle and Orwell Bale were slow to begin. Off To Monaco was quick to begin. King Gristle and Orwell Bale collided soon after the start. Off To Monaco, Sweet Impala and Fabriola Zad collided approaching the first turn checking Off To Monaco, Sweet Impala and Orwell Bale. Off To Monaco checked off Orwell Bale on the third turn. Orwell Bale and Sweet Impala collided approaching the home turn. Sweet Impala eased in the home straight and collided with King Gristle.
Sweet Impala was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found. Stewards spoke to Trainer, Mr J. Borg. regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(A)(1), Sweet Impala was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Borg pleaded not guilty to the charge, Sweet Impala was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at The Meadows and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
